Oppo is one of the first Chinese smartphone manufacturers to get a grip of the Western world, with the Oppo Find 5 making its way to Europe and the US in some unlocked shops and the Oppo N1 set to come to the world.
The Oppo N1 is the company’s answer to the Nokia Lumia 1020, Galaxy S4 Zoom and the upcoming Sony Xperia Z1. It will be the camera phone to match the quality set by these devices mentioned and Oppo is working hard to make sure image quality is top notch.
Inside the Oppo N1 is a ‘Owl’ image sensor, N-Lens and Xenon Flash – Oppo is not working hard on megapixels, with the Oppo N1 set to have only 13MP, the same as the LG G2 or Galaxy S4.
We may see Oppo sell the whole package and not just focus on the smartphone’s camera, like Nokia did with the Lumia 1020. The Oppo N1 is set to be a very capable device, with a quad-core processor, 1080p display and aluminium build.
The only problem with Oppo is they have yet to get a good grasp of software design, the hardware on the Oppo Find 5 was gorgeous, but the UI had some major problems that need addressing, especially the comic bubbles.
With the Oppo N1 likely to launch in China first, it will come off contract for about $480, with Europe and the US getting the smartphone a little later for about the same price. No reports yet on if it will come to the US and UK, Oppo is still growing into these markets.
