What's This?

Microsoft finally revealed their next generation console, the Xbox One, an all in one entertainment system with swift gaming, access to cable TV, on demand content and application integration.

The console has a rather large design, with a blu-ray player and a system full of power hardware, it looks like a slick DVR. Xbox One works with Kinect and all Smartglass compatible devices.

Xbox One allows users to switch back and forth between different gaming, media and application experiences, this may not be new to PC, but to console this is a real winner, the Xbox also lets you play while downloading games.

With Cable TV, the Xbox will be compatible with your subscription and will also give you Netflix, LoveFilm and all other streaming content. Xbox One offers cloud play and saves, to make it easier for the gamer to experience Xbox 360 titles.

Kinect has been vastly improved and with the demos shown at the event, we can expect some really fluid responses from Kinect when moving around the Xbox One.

Not many games were shown off at the Xbox event and we can expect more at E3, EA Sports was the first publisher, showing new mechanics and animation with their Ignite engine for sports games.

Then there was Quantum Break, a new story based game developed by Remedy Studios. Halo: The Television Series was revealed at the event, with Steven Spielberg playing some part in the development of the series.

Activision then took the centre stage, showing some new Call of Duty: Ghosts features and how the Xbox One is so compatible and usable as a platform. The company will introduce real immersive gameplay, dogs and new settings and storyline.

Pricing and release dates are yet to be released but all signs point to release between September and December for the holiday period.
