iCuisine, a new restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan. A unique technology solution problems grievance customer. An overhead projector flashes the menu on each table and the built-in sensors help the customers scan through, place the order and even settle bills. Can discuss the menu with your partner before you place your order. Each menu item is elaborately explained with accompanying snaps and information on key ingredients and preparation style.
The menus are projected onto the tables from above, while sensors within the tables allow the diners to interact with it. Once their meal is ordered they can also play around with it other ways, for example to change the “table cloth” design, play games or even pay the bill. Though it definitely seems like a tourist attraction, it’s not a bad idea for those of us who don’t know what something is by just reading the name on the menu. Being able to see photos of each dish could be really helpful in ordering at a restaurant you’re unfamiliar with, whether you’re in a foreign country, or you just aren’t familiar with that type of food.
