Nokia Normandy, the low-end Android smartphone, has been leaked twice today, both showing engineering prototypes of the smartphone lurking around and being tested.
The two images were both sent to Evleaks, who has been pushing out most of the news on the Nokia Normandy project since we first heard it. Seamissu and PicturePan2 both leaked engineering prototype images of the smartphone.
These are the two “real” leaks we have seen on the Nokia Normandy, previous leaks have shown renders and specifications, but both of these images show the phone is actually developed and being tested.
It looks a lot like a Nokia Lumia device with the rubber polycarbonate back and very thin corners. The device looks small as well, both images show a smartphone that can easily fit in one hand, possibly around the four-inch area.
Physical buttons on the Nokia Normandy are limited, there is only one and it looks like a back button. We wonder how Nokia will integrate home and multi-tasking on the smartphone and if there is any new interface features that will make it easy to go home.
Both the images popped up out of China and this may not be just because they are being manufactured in that country. One image showed the interface all in Chinese, pointing to the Nokia Normandy being a possible release in China.
The leak from Evleaks earlier showed Indian names and the Nokia Normandy may not be marketed at Western countries, but rather the emerging markets where the Moto G and other smartphones are trying to hit.
Before these leaks, it was a little questionable as to whether the Nokia Normandy would actually be a real device, but with a few prototype versions floating about, the question is when the device will be available to purchase.
