What's This?

Samsung is committed to making their own software features, despite TouchWiz UI going on record as one of the most hated Android skins available on smartphones.

Early views on Tizen OS and newer Samsung UI designs do show promise and a new leak from Evleaks has revealed a predictive card interface, showing relevant information, similar to Google Now.

The interface is a selection of different cards and Samsung may look to integrate all types of location based services into the home-screen, including weather, fitness and mail.

We are not sure how Samsung would get hold of this information from the user, considering they don’t offer their own first party mailing service and Google Now integration is rather cloudy, similar to the Chromecast.

Samsung could look to third party developers like Foursquare for location based services. One of the cards shows a friend eating at a local restaurant and another shows a friend sharing a song, though we are not sure what service the song is shared.

Another exciting card showed an ordered drink at Starbucks, possibly hinting at new integrated with NFC payments. Samsung may use the Galaxy Gear for fitness cards, allowing users to track distance and heart rate.

The big question for Samsung is how do they get all these third party and first party applications on board. Google may reach an agreement and startups like Foursquare may be happy to give user integration for a price, but if they cannot reach agreements this card UI may be pretty empty.

Samsung may add the experimental UI on the Galaxy S5, as their big show of how far they have come in software. The Galaxy S5 is set to launch sometime in the next few months, possibly at Mobile World Congress in February.

Google Now has made waves on Android, especially when it comes to offering location cards and cards at the right time. This is mostly due to the integration of Google Maps, Gmail and other information on these services, allowing Google Now to find relevant information and display it.
