What's This?

Samsung may be looking to take away their trademark physical home button on the Galaxy S5, opting instead for more screen and software buttons for the next generation smartphone.

This is a change for Samsung, who have had the physical button alongside two soft-touch buttons since the original Galaxy S. Samsung is not the only one looking to eradicate all physical buttons on the smartphone, with the LG G2 sort of moving them away from the front of the screen.

A new patent from Samsung shows a upcoming smartphone, either the Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Note 4. It has no physical buttons, but on the back there is a cutout, indicating a fingerprint sensor or some reactive back, similar to the Oppo N1.

The fingerprint sensor looks to be the new feature on the Galaxy S5, instead of the Iris eye scanning tech previously reported. Samsung has apparently shifted away from eye scanning, because of the extra camera sensor they need.

We do like the look of the unnamed phone, the edge-to-edge display is something we really want to see more Android OEM partners push towards, similar to how the LG G2 is designed on the front.

The Galaxy S5 has had plenty of leaks in the past few days, we have seen countless images of what could be the new UI Samsung is pushing out, with a Google Now style cards home-screen, showing recent activities.

On the design side, we heard Samsung will not add wireless charging and the Galaxy S5 may come in both metallic and plastic options, with the plastic option offering more colors and a cheaper price.

All of the rumors and leaks are confusing, considering most of the sources claim to be verified, yet conflict with other reports. The Galaxy S5 is definitely one of the most hyped devices and Samsung will reportedly launch it one day before Mobile World Congress starts.
