The LG G Pro 2 has been rumored for a few months now, originally reports said the South Korean electronics giant would skip the “Pro” moniker, in favor of launching the LG G3, but in the past month the LG G Pro 2 name has taken the place.
All of the specs for the next generation device have been revealed by LG, prior to the Mobile World Congress event, where they intend to showcase all of the new features the LG G Pro 2 has to offer.
Starting with the display, the LG G Pro 2 will take it up a notch, with a 5.9-inch full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel display, rather large for our tastes and definitely compete against the Galaxy Note, rather than the Galaxy S and HTC M8.
Internally, the LG G Pro 2 will run a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM and either a 16GB of 32GB internal storage configuration, alongside a removable 3200mAh battery, WiFi ac, LTE and Bluetooth 4.0.
The LG G Pro 2 has a big focus on the camera, the rear is a 13MP shooter, capable of 4K recording and 120 frames per second slow-motion video capture, a feature that was added to the iPhone 5S last year.
Software has been updated for the LG G Pro 2, the phone will run the latest version of Android KitKat 4.4, underneath their custom UI skin, with additional features.
These include, Knock Code, a morse-code tapping to unlock the phone; Content Lock, keeping certain files and folders locked behind a password; Mini View, allowing the user to resize the display to 5.7 inches to 4.7 inches or 3.4 inches and Dual Browser for multi-tasking.
LG’s software has been a little odd in the past, like Samsung, they find adding too much is better than adding nothing at all. Knock Code and Mini View are two features we would like to try out, to see if they perform.
The LG G Pro 2 will be fully unveiled with pricing and availability at Mobile World Congress later this month.
