Google has held off the Chromecast launch in the UK for quite some time, after hearing about a launch coming at Christmas, February 23 and March 1, we are almost ready to not believe any more rumors until the product is at our doorstep.
However, a tipster over at Android Police has revealed an internal email sent to employees at Dixon’s Retail. The email details a new product from the company coming on March 19, currently under a NDA agreement.
Google has already said the Chromecast will be coming to several new markets in the next few months, it appears the United Kingdom will be the first to get the Chromecast, after a long time spent in the US.
The internal email does not actually say the Chromecast, but considering Google has not launched another piece of hardware in the past few months that isn’t already available in the UK, our best bet is it will be the USB dongle.
Google’s Chromecast has been a well sort after device, in the first few weeks it hit huge sales numbers, forcing Netflix to back out of the deal with Google to offer free three month trials of Netflix with every Chromecast purchase.
Across the US, Chromecast stock has been scattered and while the company has managed to gain full control of the supply in the past few months, it felt like the Nexus 4 when it was first released, not available anywhere.
The hype caught onto the UK and other countries too and on Amazon we noticed various Chromecast sellers, obviously shipping the device over in large quantities to sell at a higher price in the UK.
Chromecast should be available in Dixon’s Retail, Curry’s & PC World, Argos, John Lewis and a few other retailers and online at Amazon and on the Google Play store.
