As we expected, carriers are swooping in to grab the available colors for Samsung’s Galaxy S5. It appears gold is top priority for Vodafone, nabbing the exclusivity rights in the United Kingdom.
Vodafone has announced they will be stocking multiple colors in stores and online, but gold will apparently be the big seller. The UK carrier will start pre-orders on March 28, ahead of an April 11 release date.
The blue, black and white color options will be available from various carriers, we are not sure if blue will be exclusive to any one carrier, it does not appear to be that way. We would consider blue the nicest out of the bunch, but Vodafone appears to value the gold option more.
Vodafone did not give a time period for the exclusivity, we suspect around two to three months, although it could be more depending on how many actually want the gold Galaxy S5 in the UK.
The Galaxy S5 appears to be a marginal upgrade on the internal side, with a 5.1-inch 1080p display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 2800mAh battery.
New features on the Galaxy S5 include a heart-rate sensor, which will work with Samsung’s new S Health application. The new phone will also include a fingerprint sensor built into the home button, integrated with PayPal payments.
The Galaxy S5 has been IP67 approved on water resistance, it is also dust proof. The phone does have a removable back, an odd feature for smartphones nowadays and one we are sure big battery fanatics will love.
Samsung will be adding Android KitKat 4.4 onto the Galaxy S5, with TouchWiz UI on top. We have not heard any deals for Gear wearables when you buy a Galaxy S5, we wonder if Samsung is trying to split the two brands this year.
