OnePlus is the new hot name in the mobile world, after a few months of “Never Settle” promotion, they have finally revealed their first smartphone, a high-end Android device with a custom build of CyanogenMod 11S.
Android fans have been hyping up the OnePlus One since the Chinese startup showed some of the specs and proposed price. CyanogenMod fans have also been rooting for the device to be one of the best in 2014, running a flat custom version of the ROM.
Internally, the OnePlus One is definitely a beast, with a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and 3100mAh battery, the phone can power past most of the Android competitors. The 5.5-inch 1080p screen may be off-putting to some users, but it stacks up nicely against the Galaxy Note for competition.
On top of the high-end internals, the OnePlus One also has a Sony Exmor 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. WiFi a/b/g/n, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC are all available on the device, but some European LTE bands are unavailable.
CyanogenMod is starting to become a more popular ROM, already being added to a special version of the Oppo N1. It looks like the team at CyanogenMod have redeveloped the UI, making it flatter and making all the app icons square.
The OnePlus One will be available in two storage sizes, 16GB and 64GB. The 16GB option will come for £229, while the larger 64GB option will be £349. There is no 32GB option, OnePlus apparently wants to split the buyer demographic into those that care about storage and those that do not.
OnePlus One will also come with a variety of Style Swap back covers, coming with various materials and colors for buyers interested in changing their phones look, similar to the Moto X but without the permanent design.
