LG has oftentimes tried to make features that might sound incredible, but become impractical when the user finally gets the smartphone in their hands. Quick Circle is a new cover for the LG G3, replacing the old Quick Window cover used on the LG G2.
The Quick Circle cover does the exact same thing the Quick Window cover did, but instead of a rectangular window, LG has created a circular hole that offers a selection of applications for the user to use without removing the cover.
Quick Circle offers six different applications in the style of an old telephone. The home-screen looks a bit like the weather app for iOS, but shows the time and date alongside the weather and location.
Clicking into the Quick Circle, the UI presents six apps: camera, music, calls, call logs, a fitness application and settings. We are not sure if the screen is customisable, the settings app would make us believe there are ways to add and remove apps.
The UI still feels a little ugly, but individual apps like the camera and music have simplified interfaces, allowing LG to settle down and not slap every single feature in the world on a single app, to make it almost impossible to use.
Weirdly, at the start of the video, the LG G3 is clearly shown as the cover is put on it. The phone looks exactly like the leaked press renders and we wonder if the South Korean company will actually go all out on metal this year, in order to please fans.
The LG G3 will be announced in July and we expect a launch sometime in August or September. The Quick Circle cover will be shown off at the event and come alongside the LG G3 for an extra price, we suspect.
