The HTC One Max did not go down too well last year, the fingerprint sensor on the back of the device appeared rushed and the specs inside the device did not match with the price, making it a little lower-end than the HTC One, but larger.
This year, it looks like the HTC One M8 Max, most likely named the same as last year’s model, will feature more exciting specs. Coming from reliable leaker TK Tech News, he claims sources are calling this the M8 Prime, but it will be named the M8 Max.
Last year, we struggled to figure out HTC exact plans, the One Max was called the M7 Prime in almost all leaks leading up to the official launch, when sources finally found out the retail name for the larger smartphone.
Unlike last year, the HTC One M8 Max will feature higher-end specs than the original HTC One M8. The Taiwanese smartphone maker will be replacing the Snapdragon 801 with an 805 processor, along with 3GB of RAM.
There isn’t a lot of information, but sources inside Taiwan say the HTC One M8 Prime (M8 Max) will feature a 2560 x 1440 resolution display, known as 2K. This will match the LG G3 and Oppo Find 7 display.
This year, HTC will not add a fingerprint sensor to the smartphone either. It looks like that phase of testing did not go well for HTC and they are now moving away from sensors on the outside of the smartphone, a good move in our opinion.
The announcement of the HTC One M8 Max should arrive sometime in the next few months, most likely towards the end of October. This would give HTC a six month window between the Max launch and the next flagship launch.
