It’s almost the weekend again, and as such the past few days have been filled with some rather interesting surprises and developments, at least as far as consumer electronics and tech are concerned. Nothing Announces its New Earbuds
Following the launch of the Phone 2(a) a while back, Nothing recently announced its latest pair of wireless earbuds, the new Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a), a more affordable model. The earbuds pack features and refinements that improve upon older models in the brand’s audio lineup, in addition to integrating AI functionality via ChatGPT, which Nothing says will be a part of Nothing OS for phones moving forward. The Ear and Ear (a) are priced at $149 and $99, respectively. Pre-orders are open now while sales start a bit later on the 22nd of April.
Retro Games for iOS Users
If you haven’t heard yet, Apple’s recent changes to the App Store now allow developers to upload video game emulators. As such, we’ve seen a couple of entries get published, although these have since been removed due to issues with their respective developers. Thankfully though, iOS users now have a more refined emulator to play their games on, thanks to the Delta app. Developed by Riley Testut, Delta allows users to play retro games from old gaming systems including the Super Nintendo, Gameboy, and even Nintendo DS. It even comes with support for physical controls such as Bluetooth controllers – no jailbreak needed.
Motorola Launches its Stylish New Phones
Motorola recently announced the debut of three new smartphones in its “Edge” lineup, which include the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, Edge 50 Pro, and Edge 50 Fusion. Designed to compete with premium Android rivals, the new phones feature Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, great-looking displays, and even physical designs made of vegan leather, and in the case of the Edge 50 Ultra, a sleek-looking wooden back. This actually reminds us of the old Motorola Android phones prior to the Lenovo take-over, which likewise featured wooden rear panels.
Google Shakes Things Up
Google’s dedication to building on its Ai technologies has been interesting to watch, especially with the launch of AI models like Gemini. With that said, company CEO Sundar Pichai recently announced that Google will be forming a new team that will oversee the Pixel product line, with a heavy focus on AI integration as well. The new group will be headed by Rick Osterloh, who also served as Senior Vice President of Google’s Devices and Services division.
MediaTek Announces the Dimensity 6300 Chipset
MediaTek recently announced the arrival of its newest Dimensity-class SoC, the 6300. Designed for use on midrange Android handsets and tablets, it features a rather impressive lineup of features which should provide better experiences for users on a budget. This includes faster CPU speeds of up to 2.4GHz, support for 108MP camera sensors with improved lowlight camera performance, as well as display support for up to 2520 x 1080 pixel resolutions.
