The weekend’s nearly here, which means that a lot of you out there will get a much-deserved break from all the hustle and bustle of the past few days. As such, there’s been a lot of going-ons in the world of tech and consumer electronics, and we figured that we should give you guys a round-up of some headlines that you might have missed over the week. Cadillac’s 2025 OPTIQ is Here
First up we have Cadillac’s new 2025 OPTIQ SUV, which combines a luxurious approach to EVs with relatively-competitive pricing versus rival brands. The OPTIQ will be available in standard dual motor AWD form, with an aerodynamic performance that Cadillac says allows it to reach an estimated 300-mile driving range. There’s also a standard dual motor all-wheel drive system that’s powered by an 85-kilowatt-hour battery with an estimated 300 horsepower, and two distinctive trims which consist of Luxury and Sport. Pricing in the US starts at estimated $54,000, although this will be subject to dealer prices.
MediaTek Expands its Dimensity Lineup
MediaTek recently announced the launch of two new 4nm chipsets under its Dimensity range, the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 and 7300X. If you’re wondering why the latter has an extra letter at the end, that’s because it’s designed for use with foldables in mind – with that being said however, MediaTek says that both chips come with a lot of the same specifications, including an octa-core CPU with 4X Arm Cortex-A78 cores and 4X Arm Cortex-A55 cores, support for cameras at up to 200MP resolution, as well as enhancements for gaming and AI capabilities.
Meet the Nothing Phone 2a Special Edition
While Nothing’s product DNA mostly revolves around minimalist hardware design, it looks like the company is willing to try more stylish looks every now and then – enter the Nothing Phone 2a Special Edition. It mostly keeps the same hardware components of the “regular” 2a, although it does feature a new coat of paint on the rear panel, which adds red, blue and yellow to the mix. Other than that though, the rest of the phone remains the same.
Fitbit Finally joins the Wear OS Party… Sort Of
Ever since Google acquired Fitbit, many predicted that the fitness tech brand would eventually make the move to integrate Wear OS into its wearable devices. With that being said, it looks like it’s finally happened with the new Fitbit Ace LTE, Fitbit’s first-ever Wear OS-powered device. There’s a catch though, as the new wearable is designed for use by kids, and as such lacks features like the Play Store and support for third-party apps. It does keep mom and dad informed of their kid’s health and whereabouts, although you will need to pay a monthly subscription for certain features.
Silent Hill 2 Makes a Comeback
As far as horror gaming franchises go, Konami’s Silent Hill series is one of the biggest names out there, although it has been admittedly dormant these past years. That will all change soon with the launch of the much-awaited Silent Hill 2 Remake, which is scheduled to launch on 8th October later this year for PS5. The game was teased during Sony’s State of Play event, and features a familiar story and faces, with much-improved graphics from the original and updates to gameplay.
