It’s been several years now since the introduction of the first-ever OnePlus Nord, a budget-friendly handset which steered away from OnePlus’ flagship ambitions at the time. With that in mind, the latest iteration of the series is here with the OnePlus Nord 4, and the company has made a big deal out of this new launch, and rightly so.

Design and Display
You see, one of the phone’s biggest highlights is its design – OnePlus has revisited the drawing board with the Nord 4, going back to a metal unibody design, which is available in three colours: Obsidian Midnight, Mercurial Silver, and Oasis Green. it’s something that we haven’t seen in a while, ever since most smartphone manufacturers shifted to using a combination of glass, metal and/or plastic with their devices. With that in mind, it’s a nice return to form although the phone understandably ditches wireless charging capabilities for the 5,500 mAh battery inside – it does come with 100W fast charging though.
This metal unibody wraps around the phone’s 6.74-inch display, which features an AMOLED panel, a resolution of 1240 x 2772 pixels, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It also gets really bright with a peak brightness of up to 2,150 nits, which should be more than enough for outdoor viewing. Like most OnePlus flagship phones, the Nord 4 also features the brand’s signature alert slider.
Internals and Software
Take a look inside, and you’ll find some pretty decent hardware – powering the Nord 4 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, which is a pretty capable midrange chipset in terms of overall performance. The phone comes in a handful of different storage configurations, starting at your usual 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and maxing out at 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM.
For software, the phone ships with Android 14 pre-installed, as well as OnePlus’ custom Oxygen OS user interface. For those unfamiliar, Oxygen OS comes with some impressive customization options in addition to exclusive OnePlus apps and software. The company says that the Nord 4 will receive up to four years of major Android upgrades, which is not so bad in a day and age where more and more Android brands are offering several years’ worth of support.
Cameras and Other Details
For camera hardware, the OnePlus Nord 4 features a main camera setup which consists of a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, which works in addition to an 8MP ultrawide camera. There’s also a 16MP selfie camera with 1080p video recording; the main camera setup can record videos at up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second.
In terms of pricing, the OnePlus Nord is obviously priced to compete with other midrange Android devices such as the Google Pixel 8a and Samsung Galaxy A55 – it starts at £529, which is considerably cheaper than OnePlus’ flagship offerings.
