What's This?

Aside from its budget Redmi line and flagship devices, Xiaomi’s POCO device range is among one of the most popular choices for Android fans looking to get the most bang for their buck, and the company recently introduced a handful of new devices with its POCO X7 series. Today we’re taking a look at the POCO X7 Pro, which is the more “premium” variant of the new phones.

One of the most unique aspects about the POCO phones is their design, which serve to differentiate them from the rest of Xiaomi’s smartphone offerings. While they might adopt similar looks to other Xiaomi devices every now and then, the POCO phones typically come with more vibrant yellow-and-black themed aesthetics, and the POCO X7 is no exception. It’s also available in green and black, the latter of which we have for our full review (which you can view below).

In front you’re greeted by a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 2712 x 1220 pixel resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 32,00 nits – it’s a solid setup in terms of display quality, and should be ideal for everyday use as well as content consumption, as well as gaming sessions. It’s also accompanied by a layer of Gorilla Glass 7i, which should provide additional protection from scratches and scuffs. On the rear you’ll find a dual-camera setup, and not much else.

Inside, the POCO X7 comes with the Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset, which ranks among MediaTek’s higher-tier chips for upper midrange devices. It’s accompanied by different storage and RAM configurations which max out at 512GB and 12GB, respectively. The phone is powered by a massive 6,000 mAh battery which also features support for 90W fast charging speeds, making it pretty much an all-day phone. For software, the phone comes with Android with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 on top – this means access to a ton of different apps from Google, as well as pre-installed apps from Xiaomi and third-party developers.

As for camera features, the phone packs a 50MP main camera with OIS, coupled with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. There’s a nice selection of different camera modes including Dynamic shots, Motion tracking focus, Motion capture, 50MP mode, Film Camera, Portrait mode, Documents, Night mode, Pro mode, Panorama, and HDR. For videos, the phone can record 4K videos at a maximum of 24/30/60fps, with additional features including Director mode, Video pro mode, Video log format, ShootSteady, Slow motion, Dual video, and Time-lapse. There’s also a 20MP front camera for video calls and selfies.

With that said, one of the best “features” of the POCO X7 Pro is its price – the souped-up version is priced at £349 for buyers in the United Kingdom, making it more affordable than competing devices from Samsung and Google, for example. Folks after a very capable midrange handset will definitely want to check this one out.
