Ever since the first Nothing Phone, smartphone brand Nothing has certainly made a name for itself with its often unconventional product promotion teasers, a lot of which are designed to build up hype around upcoming hardware. In true Nothing fashion, the brand recently posted a video showing a unique take on the unboxing experience – in this case with the upcoming Phone 3a. More specifically, the Nothing Phone 3a was unboxed by NEO Gamma, a humanoid robot designed by Norwegian firm 1x.
The video below (originally posted by Nothing) shows a pretty slick unboxing reveal of the Phone 3a’s design, with NEO managing to accomplish a mostly fumble-free unboxing experience. While the Nothing Phone 3a isn’t out yet, the company has made quite a lot of buzz online with occasional teasers and posters showing off different parts and components of the upcoming handset. The Phone 3a was originally thought to be a flagship-grade device, based on leaked company emails from Nothing boss Carl Pei.

Nothing is also expected to market the Phone 3a as a photography-oriented smartphone with a rather complex-looking design, a big departure from earlier Nothing Phone camera designs. The Phone 3a is also rumored to feature a dedicated camera button, similar to what other manufacturers like Sony and Apple are doing on their devices. There’s also word that we might get two variants of the 3a, which will include a 3a “Pro” model. If true, this should be a very interesting marketing tactic since the addition of the “a” branding oftentimes denotes a budget device.
The Phone 3a is predicted to come with midrange pricing, which puts it against other midrange smartphones including Apple’s recently-launched iPhone 16e, as well as the upcoming Google Pixel 9a, and the Samsung Galaxy A56. Nothing too specific is known at the moment however, as most of the phone’s details are still under wraps.

In addition to the unboxing video, Nothing also published an interview with Design Director Adam Bates and Nothing’s design team regarding the phone’s somewhat unique camera module design, which at this point has already caused quite a stir online. Nothing is expected to reveal the full specifications, availability and pricing of the Nothing Phone 3a on 4th March, which will coincide with the upcoming MWC 2025 at Barcelona.
