What's This?

The arrival of the “Clicks” keyboard accessory last year was a much-welcome effort to bring back physical typing to modern smartphones, albeit with some additional and useful tricks such as button shortcuts and backlit buttons, to name some. Originally a result of a collaborative effort between Michael Fisher (known as MrMobile), and Kevin Michaluk (known as CrackBerry Kevin), the original Clicks keyboard was designed with a focus on productivity and convenience for newer devices.

With that in mind though, something was missing from last year’s launch. In particular, the original Clicks model was designed solely for iPhones, leaving Android users asking for a version that would play nice with their Google-powered smartphones. Fortunately, the team behind Clicks recently announced that it’s designed the keyboard for expanded compatibility with more handsets.

This now brings the custom keyboard accessory for select Android smartphones including models from Google, Motorola, and Samsung. Much like the original model, the new Clicks variants are designed for a premium typing experience, and include features like ergonomic keys, tactile metal dome switches, backlit keys, and customizable shortcut buttons for quick access to apps and functions. The new Clicks keyboards will be available for the devices listed below:

  • Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro: Offered in Surge and Onyx colors, these models support passthrough USB-C charging and wireless charging. An introductory price of $99 (rising to $139 after March 21st) is available until March 21st, with shipping commencing in late April.
  • Motorola Razr+ (2024): Available in Electric and Onyx, reservations are $49, with a launch price of $99 (increasing to $139 after March 21st). Shipping begins in late May.
  • Samsung Galaxy S25: Offered in Pinot and Onyx, reservations are $49, with a launch price of $99 (increasing to $139 after March 21st). Shipping starts in June.

In addition to the features listed above, the new Clicks models also include brushed metal side keys and a microfibre interior, with each keyboard custom-engineered for its specific phone model. Passthrough USB-C charging is supported across all models, while wireless charging is exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, an interesting choice given that the Galaxy S25 also supports wireless charging capabilities. All that said, we’re hoping that we see the accessory arrive for more devices in the future.
