What's This?

It’s been quite a busy week again especially with tech news, and even with MWC 2025 over for now there’s really no stopping the influx of headlines within the software and hardware industry. That being said, we’ve gotten some pretty interesting updates over the past few days, some of which we’ve shrunk down into this easy-to-browse list, just to give you guys a rundown of what you might have missed. Let’s get started!

Could We See an Xbox Handheld Soon?

While Microsoft’s console gaming efforts haven’t been in the best of situations lately, that hasn’t stopped the veteran tech giant from branching out into more categories, at least according to new reports online. Windows Central recently published a report stating that we could see an Xbox-branded handheld gaming system in the future. Codenamed “Keenan”, it’s expected that Microsoft might partner with select hardware manufacturers such as ASUS for example, and bring its Xbox games onto much smaller screens.

The Pixel 4a is Being Recalled in Australia

It’s been five years now since its launch, but it looks like the Google Pixel 4a is at the centre of headlines again, albeit not in a good light. Following a somewhat dodgy software update back in January, the Australian government has now required Google to issue a recall for its half-decade old smartphone, citing concerns over injuries and safety with regards to overheating batteries, something which the update was supposed to address.

MediaTek Introduces New IoT Chips

While industry giants like MediaTek are often known for their mobile phone chips, the company also makes custom platforms for IoT hardware, which includes devices such as smart displays, speakers, and more. With that in mind, MediaTek’s new Genio 702 and 520 model chips are designed for just that, with an extra boost of AI in the mix. The chips are built on a 6nm process node with an integrated octa-core CPU that features a couple of Arm Cortex-A78 processors and six Cortex-A55 processors, edge-AI capabilities, support for generative AI models, human machine interfaces, and multimedia/connectivity features.

These Pixel 10 Leaks Look Awfully Familiar

In true Google fashion, the upcoming Pixel 10 series’ designs have now been shared online courtesy of the folks on Android Headlines and tech leaker @Onleaks, although you might be surprised to know that not much has changed, at least based on the renders. The Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro XL still maintain the same general look of the Pixel 9 series, down to the flat sides and redesigned camera bump. There are some few changes though, such as an additional camera lens on the base model Pixel 10, as well as a return to the dual speaker grille setup on the bottom of the phones.

Niantic Sells Off Pokemon GO

In gaming news, Pokemon Go developer Niantic recently announced that it was selling its videogame business to Scopely, a Saudi-owned development firm responsible for mobile games like Monopoly Go! for $3.5 billion. The company says that its development team will continue with planned roadmaps amidst the acquisition; it’s also reported that an extra $350 million of cash from Niantic is part of the deal, totalling to around $3.85 billion for Niantic equity holders.
