What's This?

Nowadays, iPad users are increasingly realising the risk of damaging their precious tablets, maybe by spilling ingredients on them when cooking, or dropping them during a presentation. If you are looking for an iPad case, there are some elegant options around, although some will cost you more than your original tablet!

The Launch Strutport is a sleek stainless steel and chrome globe, with no external wires. This docking system sits on a desk or table, and comes with a choice of cases, including leopard print, walnut burl and sparkle pink to reflect your personality. However, with the dock and case priced separately, this solution adds up to an expensive £780 overall.

Another desk-mounted option is the retro-designed V-luxe iPad stand by BKNY, consisting of a wooden adjustable frame for the iPad mounted on a flat stand. It is priced at a considerable £935, and matching cabinet and speakers are also available.

Of course, if all else fails, users have been seen propping their iPad up on an open Macbook – this may be another expensive solution, but at least it allows for multi-tasking!

Business users in particular may find the Standalu useful; this three-jointed floor stand allows good flexibility. It houses a wooden desk, handy for your notes, and is wheel-mounted so it can be moved, although at around £217, this is certainly not a cheap way to mount your iPad.

For the ultimate in iPad stands, the Double by Double Robotics has some unique features. The innovative design has a wheel at the base, so it can ‘follow’ you about as you move. The height also adjusts when you sit down or stand up, and when the unit stops moving, power-saving kickstands are automatically. At 7kg, it is relatively lightweight, and it has a battery life of up to 8 hours. But all this high-tech gadgetry comes at a price – in fact, an eye-watering £1,246, which could burn a large hole in your budget!
