Whatsapp, one of the most cross platform popular mobile-only instant messaging app and BBM alternative, released a beta build of its Android version. With a new Holo design interface , to complement Google’s Android 3.0.

While it is yet to be published on the official play store, the official beta is available for download (.apk file) via WhatsApp’s website, if you have been bored of the old interface for a while, beta late than never, you can try it out now; you might have to turn on installation from unknown sources before you can install it. If you have already paid for your messaging service you will not be charged again for using the beta version.
Minimum requirements:
- Android OS 2.1 or above
- Unlimited internet data plan recommended
- Tablet devices are not supported
What’s new:
- Better looking fonts,
- Bigger image previews in chat windows,
- Better buttons for playing videos and audio clips or viewing images,
- Better colour scheme inline with the Holo design guidelines.
- The background wallpaper can also now be changed directly from the chat window without the need to dig into settings.
- The emoticons drawer has been shifted below, just next to the reply prompt instead of the top right corner of the chat window.
