Huawei has never really been a company for huge reveals, with the Ascend P6 one of the first real big shows. It seems Windows Phone 8 is getting less love, as Huawei have prematurely introduced it at Mobile Asia Expo without even a mention.
We can see why the Ascend W2 does not warrant a huge crowd, the spec sheet is less than impressive when going up against Nokia and HTC and the company is currently only ready to sell the device in China.
However, for a budget end phone Huawei have delivered on making it pretty exciting. The phone comes with a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 display, a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and 512MB of RAM.
Huawei will allow the user to add more storage, with 8GB of internal storage and a microSD slot. This is the same with the battery, a 1,700mAh battery is inside, but if the user wants more they can rip of the back and take out the battery.
The Ascend W2 comes with a palette of colours to match Windows 8 themes and Huawei has taken the design further, making the soft keys colour customisable as the user changes the Windows theme colour.
No price has been announced and nowhere bar China is likely to get this device anytime soon. With it being budget end, we doubt it will come to all of Europe and Huawei may stick to Asia only.
