Google is ready to show the world the Moto X and the reveal date is at NYC on August 1. The Moto X has been one of the most leaked and talked about devices, apparently the first true collaboration between Google and their acquired hardware company Motorola.
Last month Motorola reinvented the company, with a new logo and new ads, stripping away from the Droid line to something new. Google has had lots to do with this, finding out that Motorola patents may not be the $12.5 billion reason to have acquired the company, they have decided to try and further integrate it into the Google world, as they did with YouTube.
Google has not been quiet about their commitment to the Moto X, with Motorola they have ran several teaser ads and this event invite flat out says it is going to be about the Moto X. Larry Page said on Google’s Q2 earnings call he is very excited about the Moto X.
Apart from being filled with sensors and other clever artificial intelligence, the Moto X will be the first smartphone to be fully assembled and built in the US and will come with some basic customisation features for personalisation.
Motorola will develop the parts, assemble the phone and then add any additional changes the user wants, including different colours, an etched name and a custom wallpaper when the user first boots up the device.
We believe this smartphone will come running Android 4.3, the newest version of Android apparently coming this Wednesday at another Google event. The Moto X will work like any Nexus device would, getting access to updates straight away.
