If you’re any kind of gadget fan then you’ll probably be enjoying the fact that 2012 is one of the best years yet when it comes to mobile devices that deserve your attention. There’s no doubt that mobile gadgetry is the way forward for most people, with many now ditching the traditional desktop computer in favor of machines that make much more sense for staying connected while you’re out and about.
The kit to get
One of the highlights so far has been the Apple iPad 3, which has been a real hit.  Although some detractors suggested that it wasn’t enough of a progression from its predecessor, the tablet is still proving to be a roaring success. Much of that might be down to the fact that many Apple fans will buy a new product no matter how good or bad it might be.
Nevertheless, there’s no doubting that the latest incarnation of the iPad does impress, mainly because of its superb Retina display. Plus, there’s an improved camera, faster processor and 4G capabilities, but that currently only works in the US of A. Shame.
Smart-phones are big news in 2012 too, and one manufacturer that has come back to deliver the goods again is HTC. It was a little quiet last year, but has burst back into life with a trio of new phones worth getting excited about and they fall under the One title. Top of the tree is the One X, which is an Android handset, comes with a fabulous 4.7-inch super LCD screen and a host of high-tech features.
What’s more, the camera is currently one of the best in the business thanks to a superior lens and a brand new engine for ensuring that when you take a shot it’ll turn out as you hoped, unlike many rival phones that are far from being any good on that front.
Hanging on the phone
Staying with handset, then its Samsung that also looks set to up its game this year with the release of the Galaxy SIII. At the time of writing it has yet to surface, but if the rumour mill is to be believed then this is going to be one fine smartphone. If you can’t wait that long then might be an idea to investigate the Galaxy Beam, a phone that also doubles as a projector, if you can imagine such a thing.
This is another Android device that comes with all of the usual toys, has a beefy 1GHz processor and a capacious 4-inch screen. The projector side of things, meanwhile, allows you to beam movies and video footage onto any available wall space or suitable viewing area. Cool huh?
However, if you’re a gadget nut then it’s very likely that none of that will impress if you’re keeping your options open and planning to buy a new Apple iPhone 5 when that finally appears.  Again, there are endless rumours surrounding what we can hope to expect, but no matter what the specification and design feel, the new iPhone is pretty much guaranteed success. All you need to do is find the money to buy one…
