Acer released some new gadgets this year and I am checking out the historical city of Edinburgh to put them all to use. With Christmas coming up very soon, some of the gadgets here from Acer might just be of interest or worth checking out when thinking of buying some presents this year. Equipped with the Acer Aspire Switch 10, Iconia Tab 8 tablet, Liquid Jade Android smartphone and the new Liquid Leap smartband, there is no better place or better tool to fully explore Edinburgh in a true tourist style.
The Acer Liquid Jade smartphone is loaded with a 13 MP camera capable of recording HD movies and a 2MP front facing camera for selfies. Running on Android KitKat, it is powered by a 1.3GHz processor alongside 1GB of RAM. The Liquid Jade is as compact as they come, it feels nice to hold in hand and the curved edges makes it very natural in hand. For those that doesn’t like to mix business with pleasure, it allows you to use two SIM cards and of course you can expand the storage with a microSD card.
The Aspire Switch 10 is a hybrid Windows Tablet device with a detachable keyboard that supports four positions, allowing you to fully maximize all viewing angles. It is ready when you need to do work, watch a movie in a very comfortable position or when you just want to play around on your tablet. Powered by Intel processor chipset, it runs buttery smooth and the IPS display makes it a joy to view from any angle that suits you or if you are sharing, the other person can enjoy the same experience as the person in front of it. With up to 8 hours of battery life, you will be able to use this tablet all day long. It comes available with a year’s office 365 subscription, so you can take advantage of office package for working on the move.
Elsewhere, we have the Iconia Tab 8 which rocks a full HD display, and weighing just 360 grams, it is very light, compact and portable for using on the move. Without going too much into the technical details, you will benefit from the power of Intel inside, which runs buttery smooth, whether you are playing games, browsing the web or just watching a movie, it will be able to handle it with little or no hiccups at all.
Finally we have the new Liquid Leap smartband which is Acer’s effort to get into the wearable tech market. Compatible with both iOS and Android, it boasts up to a week of battery life which means you won’t need to worry about charging it every night. It feels comfortable to wear on the wrist, although it can be a little challenging to get it hooked on your wrist. It is fairly straight forward to setup and once set up you can begin to track your steps, total sleep time, calories burned, miles travelled, minutes of activity and it is even waterproof. Since it’s hooked to your smart phone, you can also get your notifications like calls, meetings and text message right on your wrist. Like any other health tracking devices out there, you will also get a trend or chart of how you are progressing throughout the week.
