We were fortunate enough to check out some of the latest tech at Computex Taiwan 2024, and there’s no shortage of interesting, innovative, and downright cool hardware on display during the event. Many brands also unveiled new concepts and upcoming products—take, for example, Acer, which announced what is probably one of the more unique takes on camera tech that we’ve seen in a while.

Dubbed the “SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo Camera,” Acer’s new product is designed to take advantage of spatial computing (yes, the same kind on the Vision Pro) by providing users with hardware developed specifically for that purpose. Let’s take a look at what it offers.
A Camera with More to It
Given that the device is intended to record media for spatial computing purposes, Acer has designed the camera with a pretty unique look. It features two separate lenses with 8-megapixel resolutions fixed into a rectangular design. The camera also comes with a built-in selfie mirror, all wrapped up in a weatherproof exterior. As for imaging, the camera comes with auto and touch focus capabilities and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) for smooth and steady video footage.
Users also have the option of going into manual mode, which allows them to tweak settings such as calibrating ISO, white balance, and shutter speed for a more hands-on approach – it pretty much comes with the same features as on most mainstream cameras on the market, albeit with a little specialized hardware included. There are two photo modes at 7680 x 2160 (SBS or SBS + L + R) and 3840 x 2160 (SBS or SBS + L + R) resolution, while video can be recorded at either 7680 x 2160@30 SBS, 3840 x 2160@60 SBS, or 3840 x 2160@30 SBS (+HDR) resolution.
The SpatialLabs Camera also supports real-time 3D streaming and storytelling, allowing for better versatility in terms of usage. This lets users share their 3D content live on YouTube and other streaming platforms using the new Acer SpatialLabs Player 3.0. Acer adds that video calls will be available via the SpatialLabs video call widget (to be released later this year) that enables high-resolution 3D video conferencing on platforms like Teams (1080p), Zoom (720p), and Google Meet (1080p).
Other Details and Availability
The camera also has a downloadable gallery feature so users can view their 3D content. Photos are saved in JPEG format, while videos are recorded in MP4 with AAC audio and H.264 encoding for compatibility. Also within the camera is a 6-axis gyroscopic stabilization and a 1500 mAh battery that can capture up to 180 photos or 37 minutes of video on a single charge.
Regarding availability, the Acer SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo Camera will be available in North America in Q3, starting at USD 549, and in EMEA regions in Q3, starting at EUR 549.
