Amazfit recently announced that it was unveiling a limited-edition version of the Amazfit GTR 4 smartwatch, which brings an entirely new approach to the device in terms of visual design. The watch is now available for purchase on Amazon and Amazfit stores.
Amazfit says that the watch’s design takes several cues from more traditional and “classic” watch designs. The crown on the watch is made from 316L stainless steel, which makes for an elegant look at first glance. This wraps around the 1.43-inch AMOLED display, which comes with an anti-fingerprint coating and options for multiple watch faces.
This stainless steel build extends to the watch’s middle frame, providing a more cohesive and uniform appearance. The back panel on the other hand uses a different material, made from a combination of glass and ceramic that compliments the device’s front frame. The Limited Edition GTR 4 also features a “sweat-wicking” fluoroelastomer band, which Amazfit says will provide a “supremely comfortable wearing experience” that can be used in different scenarios such as at work or during workouts.
Additionally, the Limited Edition GTR 4 also comes with support for wireless magnetic charging, and coms with a built-in 475 mAh battery. Amazfit says that the battery allows users up to 27 hours of constant GPS usage, or up to 14 days of more moderate usage. While the watch does work with Android phones, it is not powered by Google’s Wear OS platform for wearable devices – instead, the GTR 4 comes with Amazfit’s own Zepp OS 2.0, a custom watch operating system that features a ton of functionality for users keeping an eye on their health and activities.
In addition to over 200 customizable watch faces, Zepp OS also comes with 150 apps that can be downloaded by users directly to the watch, as well as a large selection of health tracking features. This includes the usual array of heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen and stress level tracking, workout modes, and connectivity to other workout gear like heart rate belts, for example. There’s also support for third-party software such as Home Connect and GoPro.
Amazfit claims that the GTR 4’s “circularly-polarized” GPS antenna enables the watch to provide GPS positioning with up to 99% accuracy, even in surroundings with talls buildings and trees. Additionally, there’s also support for Bluetooth calls, and even compatibility with Amazon Alexa voice functions. As mentioned earlier, the Amazfit GTR 4 Limited Edition is now available from Amazon and Amazfit stores, and will come in an “Infinite Black” colour variant, with pricing around £247.
