While it’s been a while since we’ve seen some standout Windows tablets from mainstream brands, that’s not to say that the category is dead. In fact, ASUS recently wowed audiences with its new product releases during CES 2025, and while there was a ton of impressive new hardware in the form of productivity and gaming-oriented laptops there was one product that was undeniably unique from the rest of ASUS’ 2025 product lineup.
We’re talking about the ASUS ROG Flow Z13, a 2-in-1 tablet designed with performance and gaming in mind. Running on Windows, the Z13 provides a more portable gaming experience in mind, although with a slight bit of difference when compared to other Windows-powered gaming devices like ones from ASUS, Lenovo and Acer, to name a few.
Let’s take a look at its design – sure, it lacks the built-in controls that modern handhelds come with, but given that it’s a 2-in-1 device ASUS has designed the Flow Z13 to clip easily onto a keyboard, and when combined with a mouse this should make for a more “familiar” gaming control setup, at least as far as PC gaming is concerned. The tablet comes with a sleek-looking design, although it does come with a lot of the extra aesthetic flair that ROG devices typically feature, such as dramatic accents and panel lining, most of which can be seen on the rear panel. There’s a kickstand as well so you can prop it up during desktop gaming sessions.

The Flow Z13 features a 13-inch screen which features a sharp-looking 2.5K resolution display within a 16:10 aspect ratio, that also gets pretty smooth at up to 180Hz. ASUS says that it comes with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space, and even comes with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 for added protection from scratches. One thing to consider though is the somewhat low 500 nits of peak brightness, so outdoor viewing might not always be ideal depending on your immediate surroundings.
Of course, inside is where the tablet truly shines – inside you’ll find AMD’s new Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with Radeon 8060S, which works with 16 high-performance Zen 5 CPU cores and 40 compute units worth of RDNA 3.5 graphics. ASUS adds that there’s 50 TOPS of NPU performance for AI software such as Microsoft Copilot+ PC, and up to 32GB of ultra-high speed LPDDR5X 8000MHz RAM. There’s also a cooling chamber that covers 54% more of the mainboard, along with larger intake vents and dual 2nd Gen Arc Flow Fans.
Other details include a front-facing camera (it is part laptop after all), a 70Wh battery, dual USB-C ports with USB 4 support, DisplayPort 1.4 output, and power delivery, as well as a dedicated HDMI 2.1 port, a USB Type-A port, a microSD card reader, and an audio combo jack. One big consideration is the tablet’s price – the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 will set you back around 2000 USD, should you decide to pick one up. Given the performance you’re getting though, it might be worth it in the long run.
