What's This?

Gaming tablets aren’t anything new, and if the past couple of years are anything to go by, then it’s safe to say that users after a capable gaming slate that runs on Android will have a decent set of options. With that in mind, Android users now have something new to look forward to – gaming handheld brand AYANEO recently announced its new gaming tablet, aptly named the AYANEO Gaming Pad – which runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset.

Qualcomm’s new G-series chips – the G3 Gen 3, G2 Gen 2, and G1 Gen 1 – are designed for dedicated gaming devices, and AYANEO was quick to adopt the new hardware. As such, the tablet’s design makes sure that you know who’s powering the device, courtesy of its transparent glass panel on the rear. As for the rest of its design, the Gaming Pad features a compact 8.3-inch display – while there’s no AMOLED screen on here, you do get a sharp 1440p display and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, both of which should provide users with a visually-pleasing experience with content consumption and gaming. This display is surrounded by an all-metal CNC frame.

At the time of writing, the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 is currently untested particularly versus competing chips from rival brands, even Qualcomm’s own Snapdragon 8 Elite. Qualcomm says that the G3 Gen 3 is built using a new architecture design with as much as a 30% improvement in CPU performance and a 28% boost in GPU performance, at least when compared to previous models in the G series. Additionally, the Gaming Pad also comes with some specific gaming-related features, such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing and Snapdragon’s Game Super Resolution feature.

According to AYANEO, the Gaming Pad also features a built-in cooling system alongside a large capacity battery, although the company hasn’t specified its specifications. The Gaming Pad also supports peripherals such as external physical controllers, which adds a bit of versatility with regards to how you can approach your games. As with most other tablets, AYANEO has also equipped the Gaming Pad with a camera setup. The device features a dual-camera setup consisting of a 50MP AF main camera and a 13MP FF 120° ultra-wide-angle camera, while a 5MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.

No release date or pricing has been given for the device however, so fans looking forward to this one might want to wait a bit for a formal announcement.
