What's This?

Yes you’ve got your iSomething, and you can’t wait to get started, you know setting up your emails, moving your contacts from your old blackberry, taking pictures and most importantly downloading angry birds. What i’m about to point out, there’s a chance that you’ve had your iSomething for a while and still haven’t set this up. Imagine after all that hard work, downloading apps, loading up your music library, adding contacts etc, you lose your phone, or maybe you just want to see where the other half is on the planet. Well the most important and first thing you need to do is setup find my iPhone. Find My iPhone is a free service from Apple that allows you to locate your iSomething, where it is on the planet, you can send a message to it, remote wipe your device and make it beep to annoy the beholder. Here’s how to set it up:

1. Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 4.2 or later.

2. Tap the Settings icon and choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Tap the Add Account button and select MobileMe.

4. Enter your Apple ID and password.
If you have an iTunes Store account or have ordered from the Apple Online Store, you already have an Apple ID.
If you don’t have an Apple ID, tap Create Free Apple ID and follow the onscreen instructions.
If you’re already a MobileMe subscriber, enter your me.com or mac.com email address and password.

5. Verify your account.
If your MobileMe account says “Not Verified,” check your email inbox for a message from Apple. Click Verify Now and sign in with your Apple ID.

If you don’t see a verification email in your inbox, select your MobileMe account and tap Resend Verification Email.

6. Return to the MobileMe screen and switch on Find My iPhone.
When the Find My iPhone message appears, tap Allow. If you can’t find it, go into App Store and download the Find My iPhone App

Now Sign in to me.com from a computer to see your iPhone on a map, display a message, or set a passcode lock.
