If you are verified or happen to be famous you might be lucky enough to be part of the Google+ vanity URL roll out earlier this month; good news is you do not have to be famous now, you just need to be lucky. Thousands of additional individuals and brands has been given that privilege leaving other users feeling left out of the occasion.  Users grated the vanity URL feature will be able to have something like this: https://plus.google.com/+”name”  instead of https://plus.google.com/ “random characters”.
Facebook offered that service at the cost of have so many likes for brands and is seen as a useful feature as it makes it easier to distribute and make connections with others on the move.  It is easier to remember your vanity URL than it is to remember series of random characters and those that have time to use other URL shortner service can also set it to something unofficial.
The update isn’t available to everyone yet. “If you’re part of this expanded roll out, you’ll be prompted to claim your preapproved URL via email and/or when you visit your profile or page,†Google’s Saurabh Sharma said in a Google+ post. “We’re making these changes over the next few days, and we’ll be offering custom URLs to many more profiles and pages in the future.â€
Sharma also said that the vanity URLs aren’t case sensitive. That means that https://plus.google.com/+ToddHaselton will work just as well as https://plus.google.com/+toddhaselton. Whenver I get the update, that is.
