What's This?

The Nexus 6 looks to the next in line for Google’s flagship phone for this year, a larger smartphone developed by Google and LG, possibly coming with a new version of Android KitKat 4.5.

Gizmodo.de has revealed they have chatted to sources familiar with Google’s plans and the phone will be co-developed by LG, who previously manufactured the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and added the LG G Pad 8.3 as a GPE.

LG will stick to the old tactic of making the Nexus 6 exactly like one of their flagship models, this year it will look similar to the LG G3 without all the of the custom software the South Korean company likes to slap on Android.

This will not be the only project Google and LG will work together on this year, the same source says the company is working on a smartwatch with Google, set for launch this year, with the stock Nexus UI.

Sundar Pichai and the sources on this leak have confirmed the Nexus 6 will not be coming in the first half of 2014. We may see the phone previewed at Google I/O in June this year, with a launch sometime in July or August.

As for the smartwatch, we are not sure when it will be announced. Cramming Google Glass, the Nexus 6 and the Nexus smartwatch into one show is a bit excessive, especially considering last year they pushed it to a developer focused conference.

LG has been the front-runner throughout the year when it comes to a device manufacturer for the Nexus smartphone, despite some rumors pegging Motorola and Lenovo to develop this year’s device, further pushing the Chinese company into the US market.

We believe Android KitKat 4.5 will offer some new smartwatch features to make Android a powerful competitor against the iWatch and Pebble smartwatch, leading to manufacturers developing smartwatches with Android, instead of other platforms like Tizen OS.
