Some of history’s most iconic individuals have been reimagined in a series of photographs envisaging what it would have been like if they were as selfie obsessed as today’s celebs.
Commissioned by leading smartphone manufacturer HTC, the unique set of images show Julius Caesar, Emperor Hadrian, Marie Antoinette, Sir Walter Raleigh, Cleopatra and Rasputin in a whole new light – conjuring-up the most famous moments from their lives shot on an HTC Desire EYE smartphone with 13MP front facing camera.
Using modern day social slang comparable to the likes of Kim Kardashian, Millie Mackintosh and Professor Green, each historical milestone is brought back to life on their very own social media profiles. The series features Cleopatra’s beauty blogger bath time selfie, Sir Walter Raleigh’s love of baked potatoes, Marie Antoinette tucking into cake, Julius Caesar’s party pics as well as Russian lothario Rasputin on looking for a lady.
Each portrait is reimagined using the HTC Desire EYE, the company’s most recent release and phone of choice amongst selfie fanatics and market leader owing to the 13MP front and rear facing cameras.
Ben Walsh, Head of Marketing for UK & Ireland, HTC said “With literally millions of selfies filling social media feeds every day, the likes of Barack Obama, David Cameron and even Pope Francis are snapping shots of themselves and inadvertently documenting key moments from modern times. So, with the launch of our newest 13MP selfie savvy smartphone, we wondered what it would be like if celebs from times past were taking snaps of themselves for social media – posting to an audience of adoring fans”.
The HTC Desire EYE will be available in both Blue and Coral from HTC.com and selected retailers including Carphone Warehouse and Three.
