HTC has never been great at stopping leaks and the One E8 is another show of confusion, after HTC China decided to launch the smartphone a week early in a prize contest only to figure out they had jumped the gun. It is finally been announced, but instead of being called the M8 Ace or One Vogue, it is named the One E8.
The HTC One E8 brings back the old polycarbonate used on the HTC One X and S two years ago, but with a more refined look. Coming in matte black with gold, glossy white or glossy red, it definitely has a more elegant design and reminds us of the HTC Desire 816.
Internally, the HTC One E8 is the same as the HTC One, running a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, alongside 2GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage and microSD expansion. The big change is on the back of the device, removing the Duo Camera in favor of one 13MP shooter.
The major difference is design and even though the HTC One E8 looks like a nice option, we still find the HTC One M8 to be a more desirable choice in terms of design. Metal beats polycarbonate for most high-end buyers and this will hopefully mean decrease in price.
HTC aren’t rushing to get the One E8 out into the World, sales will start in China where the phone was first leaked and will continue to expand through Asian countries. No word on an official date for the UK, Europe or United States and we wouldn’t be surprised if HTC keeps this in Asia.
