During Google I/O, Google announced the Samsung Galaxy S4 with pure Android and no TouchWiz; it raised questions as to whether another highly regarded Android smartphone, the HTC One would also be getting it.  It was rumoured around the web for a while however it is no longer a rumour as the head of Android, Sundar Pichai made the announcement during the D11 conference. The HTC One Google Edition is to be made available in late June.
For a lot of users, the biggest issue with Android devices is that some may or may not receive latest Android updates as they are release by Google unless you have a device with pure Android OS like the Nexus 4. Â Now that the Google Edition will become available, it would mean that those devices would get those updates as they get released right from the source.
This special edition device, priced at $599, will be available in the United States (initially) and supported on GSM networks. Out of the box, this special edition HTC One will run Android 4.2.2 with subsequent software updates provided by Google.
The official launch date is set for June 26th, and will continue to offer the SIM unlocked and Developer Edition phones direct from HTC. The table below clearly describes what you will be getting with all the various editions available.
