What's This?

Apple may not be rushing to get an iPad Mini with Retina Display on the shelves, with new reports saying Apple is incapable of meeting the demand for the Christmas holidays while adding the higher-resolution retina display.

Nobody has confirmed there will be a retina display on the iPad Mini, but with the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HDX both having 1920 x 1200 displays at cheaper prices, Apple should look to be competitive in the tablet market.

With the huge success of the iPad Mini at launch, Apple may be scared of limited production as they head into the holiday season, where they normally sell the most of their iPads after launching on October or November.

Due to the problems Apple has had in the past with production speeds on new smartphones, including the gold iPhone 5S that has been out of stock since its launch, there is a feeling the iPad Mini with Retina Display would be out of stock before the holidays start.

Apple may also not see retina display as a needed feature, considering the iPad Mini success to begin with – the company may look to add better performance and battery life and consolidate the retina display for the next version in 2014.

According to analyst predictions, the iPad Mini 2 should sell about 20% more than the original iPad, with Apple preparing to launch it in more countries than last time with the same $289 price tag. Apple will either drop the original iPad from the store or offer it at $199 to compete with the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7.
