What's This?

Apple has had a tiresome few months, with the stock price bouncing above and below $500, this may be their last chance in 2013 to actually get some enthusiasm around their products and show they are still innovative.

At the iPhone event, Apple announced the two new smartphones, the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. On the software side, the company also announced the new iOS7 release date, set for September 18.

Specs are similar to the iPhone 5 and Apple will discontinue the smartphone. It will come with the same 8MP camera, 4-inch retina display and A6 chipset.

Differences between the two include the polycarbonate back, 1.9u pixel front FaceTime camera and longer battery life. Apple will launch two versions of the iPhone 5C, the 16GB model for $99 and 32GB model for $199.

Apple’s new flagship smartphone, the iPhone 5S, has a few new features and Apple has integrated them all into iOS7. This includes the new A7 chipset more CPU performance and a faster GPU and the new M7 co-processor that can measure the accelerometer, compass, GPS and gyroscope.

The iSight camera has been redeveloped slightly, with the sensor active area improved by 15% and dual-LED flash. Apple has added 120FPS slow-motion video mode and 15 new automatic functions when taking a photo.

Star feature, the fingerprint sensor, was revealed by Apple for the new iPhone 5S. It will allow the user to unlock the smartphone and pay for iTunes and Apps Store purchases, Apple may release the APK sometime soon to third parties.

The iPhone 5S prices start at $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB. No word on a 128GB option, the first time in three years Apple has not upgraded the storage options. Apple will launch both iPhones on September 20, pre-orders start on September 13.
