Jawbone’s ‘Up’ is a fitness-tracking gadget that is capable of keeping track of your day to day activity such as steps, food intake and sleep pattern; it is now back in the UK at £99 after their previous attempt that failed due to devices that broke easily and a few glitches; the previous version did not get the welcome reception Jawbone would have hoped for back in 2011.
Most buyers complained of wear and tear at very early stages of using the device, and software glitches that should not exist in a device that cost so much. Luckily for those users, Jawbone’s CEO offered a refund, and pinned the blame on capacitors in the Up’s power system that were failing to hold a charge, among other things.
Nike+ FuelBand, its main rival has been successful with users switching although Nike’s FuelBand does now offer the full extent of data available from Jawbone like sleep pattern.
The new Up, now pose to have better and comfortable design, but still lacks Bluetooth connectivity meaning you need to plug it into your smart phone every time you want to sync data.
The Up costs £99, and comes cheaper than its major rival, the £129 FuelBand.  Jawbone’s UP will also have the edge over its rival by releasing an Android app which Nike FuelBand users are missing currently; Jawbone will be looking to regain its position in the UK market.
Stay tuned for a review of the new Jawbone UP.

This is just another example of how apps are revolutionizing the communication between people in a big way. Another blog mentioned how mobile applications are growing into a social phenomenon and the article you wrote is another prime example of that.
