If you need a bag that’s versatile, spacious, and stylish, then read on. The Knomo Cromwell Roll-top backpack is exactly that plus more and it’s reasonably priced too.
Just like any other products from Knomo, they are stylish, durable and every detail is very well thought through. The Cromwell is a backpack for true nomads who likes to carry and protect their creativity tools as well as some kit they can quickly switch into.
Getting some technical details out of the way, the Cromwell roll top backpack measures H62 x W33 x D15.5cm and it includes a laptop pocket which measures H27 x W29cm, so you can fits a laptop up to) 15″ in size. It’s ultra-lightweight too at just 1 kg with nothing inside and offers a capacity of 27.5L.
The laptop area is padded to keep your laptop safe and with a high-frequency welded nylon, backed with ultra water-resistant polyurethane, you can walk in the rain with no concern for the items inside.
On the front exterior, there’s a zipped pocket seamlessly integrated with the bag with a black waterproofing design to still make it visible – it’s great for storing things you need quick access to, for example, I mainly used it to store train tickets, passport and sometimes my Knomo battery pack.
Besides the main compartment, there’s also an additional pocket for cards, pens and other small items. Imagine you have your DSLR in the main compartment, your laptop in the laptop compartment, you can just place your memory cards and backup battery in the pocket which can also lift up to allow space in the main area.
Elsewhere, the Cromwell’s roll-top closure offers a better security than what a normal zip enclosure can offer because not only can you roll it, it’s secured with plastic clips on either side.
For comfort, there’s a cushioned mesh back, padded straps, detachable chest strap and a waist strap to ensure weight is evenly distributed without putting the strain on your back when carrying a heavy load.
As with any Knomo bags, you get an ID allocated to your backpack so once registered, if it’s lost, the founder can return it to you through Knomo’s portal – sweet right?
Is there anything bad to say about the Cromwell? Well not really, if I’m being pedantic, then it would be that when you don’t use the straps, they begin to dangle loosely all over the place and when the bag is not full, it looks deflated.
To complete the kit, you should invest Knomo’s stylish battery pack. It’s a 10,000 mAh power bank capable of charging smartphones and tablet devices. It’s finished in aluminium and comes with a leather case to match.
It weighs just 27 grams with 2 x 2.4A outputs for fast charge and with 10,000 mAh output, you can charge your smartphone up to 5 times over and 2 full tablet recharges.
