Aside from AI, perhaps one of the most common trends in modern consumer electronics is the rise of device ecosystems, which allow manufacturers to develop and market hardware products that will sync seamlessly with one another, giving users an ideally streamlined experience in addition to keeping them within a certain brand’s range of products.
With that in mind, LG recently announced that it was launching its new LG StanbyME Speaker, a portable speaker that the company says has been developed to “work in harmony” with its own LG StanbyME lifestyle screen. Of course, users can also choose to enjoy their music on the speaker as a standalone piece of equipment that can be taken anywhere, thanks to a travel-friendly size. But what else does it come with?
Portable Design, Powerful Sound
LG says that the speaker was designed with both functionality and style in mind, making it “ideal for design-conscious individuals who relish streaming content and music at home or on the go.” The speaker is available in markets including Korea and the U.S., and will be released in more regions later on.
In terms of design, the speaker’s portable chassis comes with an IPX5 rating and up to 16 hours of playback time, measuring only 78-millimeter (height) by 326-millimeter (width) and 87-millimeter (depth), with an overall weight of 0.9 kilograms. Interestingly, LG has included an ‘edge lighting’ feature that does add a bit of visual flair when using the speaker, adding a bit of ambience when in use.
Additional Features
The company does state that the speaker is specially engineered to provide users with a complete entertainment experience when combined with a StanbyME screen, allowing for seamless and intuitive pairing, as well as convenient control via an included remote control with the StanbyME screen. using the remote, listeners can quickly toggle their speaker and screen on and off with a single press, as well as connect their devices wirelessly via Bluetooth. There’s also included software compatibility by way of a dedicated widget with a one-stop control center, as well as an overview of the speaker’s status.
The LG StanbyME Speaker does come with some useful built-in functions – including the “WOW Orchestra” feature, which allows it to integrate with the StanbyME screen’s built-in audio system for a unified audio setup with an improved listening experience. Inside the speaker is an α (Alpha) 7 Gen 6 AI processor, that LG says can optimize sound based on content type, while its 20-millimeter dual tweeters are responsible for handling high-frequency stereo sound. The speaker also features a dual passive radiator for a deep bass sound. Should a user want to listen to their music on the StanbyME speaker as a standalone device, however, LG also offers a dedicated cradle, allowing the speaker to attach to the LG StanbyME for enhanced sound quality.
As for availability, the LG StanbyME Speaker is currently available from LG’s official website in Korea and the U.S.; the company adds that it plans to launch the speaker in other major markets internationally.
