For a lot of content creators, Logitech’s “Blue” range of mics and audio gear are some of the best one can get on the market, and it’s continued to be a mainstay for many podcasters and YouTubers over the years. With that in mind however, it looks like Logitech is looking to move away from the Blue branding, following an announcement made recently via the official Logitech Twitter account.
Essentially, the company will be retiring the Blue Microphone brand, although it will still continue selling other microphones via its “Logitech G” brand. This comes as a result of a merger between Logitech G, Astro Gaming, Blue Microphones, and Logitech for Creators, which will be integrated into the Logitech G branding. The announcement was made via a Twitter post by Ujesh Desai, Logitech General Manager of Gaming.
The announcement clarifies that products under the aforementioned brands will still continue, although the company will be pushing for “deeper integration” within its hardware ecosystem, allowing for better management between devices via a single software suite. An additional FAQ posted on Reddit states that Logitech will keep the Blue branding to “describe” technologies such as the company’s microphone hardware and products. The company also clarified on Twitter that the “Astro” branding will continue to live on under the merger, with new products to come in the future.
Logitech’s acquisition of Blue was originally completed in 2018 for $117 million, with the latter being known for several microphones such as the Blue “Yeti” and Blue “Snowball.” With that being said, users planning on getting a “Blue” branded microphone or audio product at the moment better act fast.
