What's This?

The foldable race has gotten much bigger, and at this point it’s not too surprising to see more and more OEMs try their hand at foldable Android devices. While it’s not the newest player to join, Honor has recently announced its latest entry in the foldable market with the Honor Magic V2. Priced at around 900-1000 GBP, the device packs some of the best hardware that Honor has to offer, at least as far as foldables are concerned.

With that being said however, we’re still waiting for a global launch for the device, which is currently only available for buyers in China. Nevertheless, we’re to go over what you can expect from the Honor Magic V2, in terms of hardware and software features – let’s check it out!

External Design and Screens

Perhaps one of the biggest highlights that Honor has decided to point out with the Honor Magic V2 is its slim profile, which only measures 9.9mm when folded. This makes it a bit more pocket-friendly compared to most other foldable devices out on the market right now, even with its predecessor the Honor Magic Vs. The company adds that it has equipped the Magic V2 with a titanium hinge design, which has been developed to withstand 400,000 folds during its lifespan.

As with its predecessor, the Magic V2 features a glass front display combined with a softer material for the inner display, with a metal frame that wraps around the sides of the device. The rear panel will come with either glass or an “eco leather” material, although either way it does manage to exude a premium feel.

The phone’s main display measures 7.92-inches, and features an OLED panel with a 2156 x 2344 pixel resolution, 120hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits, making it brighter than a ton of other smartphone screens out there. The external LTPO AMOLED display is impressive as well, measuring at 6.43 inches, with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1060 x 2376 pixel resolution.

Internal Specs and Cameras

The Honor Magic V2 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which powers the device’s alongside 16GB of RAM, and a maximum storage capacity of 1TB. We suppose it’s safe to say that the Magic V2 will have little trouble in the way of performance, especially for power users who demand seamless fluidity while using resource-heavy apps, and graphics-intensive games.

In terms of software the Honor Magic V2 comes with Android 13 onboard, accompanied by Honor’s Magic OS 7.2, which comes with a variety of Honor-exclusive apps not found on other OEM variants of Android. In terms of battery, there’s a 5,000 mAh unit inside, which comes with support for 66W wired charging speeds. There’s still sadly no mention of wireless charging support, something that its predecessor lacked, unfortunately.

For imaging, the Honor Magic V2 features a dual 16MP sensor setup, while the main camera array comes with three lenses – these include a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide sensor, a 50MP f/1.9 main camera, and a 20MP f/2.4 telephoto camera. Video recording maxes out at 4K resolution at either 30 or 60 frames per second.

As mentioned earlier, the phone is exclusive to China for now, so we’ll have to wait and see when Honor decides to launch the Magic V2 for international markets.
