What's This?

Acer recently announced the arrival of its latest batch of Aspire-series laptops at CES 2024, showing off some of the latest and greatest hardware that the Taiwanese manufacturer has packed with its updated line of portable computers. With that in mind, the company also unveiled the Acer Aspire Vero 16, which combines performance and a reasonable pricing with eco-friendly manufacturing processes. What else does it feature, though? Let’s find out.

External Design and Display

Starting with its design, the Vero 16 features what Acer refers to as an “eco-chic” design, which comes with a smoothened surface available in a Cobblestone Gray colour variant. According to the company, the material used in the chassis ditches “volatile organic compounds, paint, or additives,” and instead is made with up to 60 percent post-consumer recycled material, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions during manufacturing. Other design traits include an OceanGlass touchpad, which Acer says is made with ocean-bound plastic with 100% recycled packaging.

Overall though it is pretty standard-looking as far as laptops are concerned, and while it does come with noticeable bezels this might be a non-issue for some users. The laptop features a 16-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, and covers 100% of the sRGB colour space. There’s also a WUXGA touchscreen option that’s available, which should add a nice touch of functionality.

Internal Specs

Beating inside the Vero 16 is Intel’s Core Ultra 7 processors, which come with new features such as integrated AI software (that’s all the rage these days), with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and support for up to 2 TB dual PCIe Gen 4 SSD of upgradable storage. The laptop of course runs on Microsoft’s latest Windows 11, with support for Windows Copilot.

Other hardware details include a battery that Acer says can last for up to 10.5 hours on a single charge, a built-in 1440p QHD webcam with AI features such as Acer PurifiedVoice which enhances vocal quality during calls, as well as wireless connectivity options including Wi-Fi 7 support and Bluetooth LE Audio. For hardware connectivity, the Vero 16 packs two USB Type-C ports (Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4), and an HDMI 2.1 port.

Pricing and Regional Availability

Buyers in North America can get their hands on the Vero 16 in March starting at USD 749.99, while folks in the EMEA regions (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) can look forward to getting their hands on the Acer Aspire Vero 16 once it launches in March starting at EUR 1,199.
