While a lot of Android tablets today are usually seen from brands like Samsung and Xiaomi, other names in the industry have likewise continued to expand their tablet product portfolio – take for example Honor, which is now offering the Honor Pad X9a for select markets. First spotted on Honor’s SEA website, the Pad X9a offers some specs that while not groundbreaking, make for an overall solid device.

Like a lot of modern Android tablets nowadays, the Honor Pad 9Xa comes with an aluminium unibody, a nice touch especially on a non-flagship device. This chassis wraps around a large 11.5-inch display, with a respectable resolution of 1504×2508 pixels. One big caveat however is that the X9a’s screen is an LCD panel, so there’s no AMOLED or OLED on here – this essentially means that colours will look a bit different to users who are more used to OLED screens on their phones, a lot of which come with rich saturation and contrast. It’s not too bright however with a peak brightness that maxes out at 400 nits, but it does retain a 120Hz refresh rate.

As for performance, you’re getting a Snapdragon 685 chipset – despite the Snapdragon branding, the 685 is ultimately a budget-friendly SoC, and that means some limitations in terms of performance. We wouldn’t call it a terribly slow chip per se, but don’t expect to run Genshin Impact at a flawless framerate should you decide to try it out on the X9a. The 685 is partnered with 128GB of internal storage, in addition to 16GB of RAM, which should be more than enough to run most apps on the Pad X9a. As for software, you are getting MagicOS 9 on top of Android 15, which comes with Honor’s own apps and software features baked in.

One big highlight of the Honor Pad X9a is the battery inside, with an 8,300 mAh battery running the show. It should be enough to last a day or two on moderate use, and maybe even longer for folks who just use their tablet for basic apps. Don’t expect particularly fast charging times however, as the tablet maxes out at 35W charging speeds. Honor does include a bundled charger if you buy the tablet, a rare addition in a day and age where most brands decided to copy Apple’s cost-cutting measures.
