Thanks to its wide selection of audio and video gear (not to mention computing and gaming peripherals), Logitech has built quite a reputable portfolio of different products aimed at varying budgets and use cases. With that said, its newest Mevo Core streaming camera is undoubtedly a big step above previous offerings, providing content creators, performers and pros with a neat set of features. Commenting on the launch, Otto Cedeno, Head of Mevo states:
“We are on a journey to democratize live content creation for everyone at any skill level. Mevo Core embodies this value by bringing beautiful 4K DSLR level quality but with a fraction of the complexity of a traditional camera… Every single aspect, from adjusting the optical zoom, to setting the right focus are simple taps, making it an incredibly accessible pro-level camera, even for beginners.”
So what exactly does the Logitech Mevo Core come with? Let’s take a look.
Design and Main Features
At first glance, the Mevo Core’s rather compact size and sleek profile might be enough to fool most into thinking that it’s just another dime-a-dozen webcam. On closer inspection though, there’s more than meets the eye – for one, the Mevo Core is able to shoot footage at a maximum 4K resolution at 30 fps, and can livestream at up to 1080p at 30fps thanks to a Micro Four Thirds sensor.
It’s also compatible with a wide variety of mounting options, adding a bit of versatility as to how you can use it. Interestingly, the Mevo Core’s design also allows content creators to use it with different lenses, and even adjust elements like aperture and focus. This gives it an edge over competing products which lack such a feature.
Smart Connectivity and Other Features
Another big advantage of the Mevo Core is that it takes very little effort to set up, saving users precious time when preparing their broadcasts and such. Logitech has designed the camera for easy use with the Mevo Multicam app, which is free for download for both Android and iOS devices. The app allows creators to manage their Mevo Core easily, and can even support connectivity and control for several Mevo Core cameras simultaneously.
Inside the Mevo Core is a built-in 3-mic array that Logitech says is enhanced with spatial audio processing and noise cancellation, allowing the camera to detect and eliminate unwanted background noise. There’s also built-in Wifi 6E, as well as the ability to broadcast content onto major online streaming platforms and websites. Powering this entire setup is a battery that Logitech says can last for up to six hours of use on a single charge.
Creators can also connect to additional workflows thanks to the Mevo Core’s HDMI output, as well as built-in NDI and SRT integration for an efficient video connectivity experience. For more basic needs, the Mevo Core can also be used as a wireless or wired HD webcam that is compatible with any computer running Mac or Windows.
Pricing and Availability
Of course, all these features come at a price – the Logitech Mevo Core is available now for $999 (camera body only) at Mevo.com, B&H Photo Video and Amazon in the US and Canada, and will be offered with lens bundles at select retailers. It is a bit heavy on the wallet, but content creators willing to invest in a useful addition to their setup will find a lot to love here.
