OnePlus is probably best known for its flagship-tier smartphones such as the OnePlus 13 series, which is expected to launch globally this coming year. With that in mind, the company’s “Ace” series devices are likewise impressive, and while they are understandably cheaper than OnePlus’ mainline flagship smartphones, that doesn’t mean that they’re pushovers in terms of overall quality. As such, the OnePlus Ace 5 seemingly wants to continue that trend – let’s take a look!

As far as looks are concerned, the OnePlus Ace 5 doesn’t really do anything to break the aesthetic mould that OnePlus has established with its smartphones in the past few years. You get a familiar-looking design which features the off-centre camera bump in the back, and in front is a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a protective glass layer. It packs a resolution of 1264×2780 pixels, your standard (in non-Apple terms) 120Hz refresh rate, as well as up to an extremely bright 4,500 nits of peak brightness.
Inside is where the OnePlus Ace 5 truly shines – you get the impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, alongside up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, both of which start at 12GB and 256GB, respectively (and depending on region). The 8 Gen 3 is of course an older chipset, but on its own it remains a very capable SoC and should make for a rather satisfying user experience. There’s also a 6,415 mAh battery inside, with support for 80W wired charging speeds.
In terms of software, you’re getting Android 15 pre-installed, although this comes layered with OnePlus’ own Android interface. This means that users will get a rich array of personalization and customization options, access to OnePlus’ suite of exclusive apps and software, as well as newer generative AI features. The Chinese version of the phone comes with ColorOS installed (the same UI that Oppo phones use) instead of the usual OxygenOS that western markets get.
For camera hardware, the OnePlus Ace 5 packs a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 24mm focal length, 1/1.56″ sensor size, 1.0µm pixel size, PDAF, and OIS. It’s complemented by an 8MP ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture, 16mm focal length, 112° field of view, 1/4.0″ sensor size, and 1.12µm pixel size. A 2MP macro lens rounds out the rear camera system. For selfies and video calls, the Ace 5 features a single 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture, 24mm focal length, 1/3″ sensor size, and 1.0µm pixel size.

As for video, footage maxes out at 4K resolution on the main camera setup, while front videos are saed at a lower 1080p resolution at 30fps. Other details include support for Bluetooth 5.4, optical in-display biometrics, as well as three colour options in white, green, and grey. It should be noted that at the moment the OnePlus Ace 5 is exclusive for Chinese markets, priced at around 300 EUR when converted.
