CES 2023 has presented consumers with a barrage of awesome new products, and among these was the Lenovo ThinkPhone, a new handset from Motorola. Targeted towards business enterprise users, the phone adopts the Lenovo “Think” branding as seen on the company’s high-end laptops, and likewise marks the 30th anniversary of the ThinkPad series.
Device Specs:
- Display: 6.6-inch pOLED, FHD+ resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus
- Storage & Performance: 128/256/512GB internal storage, 8/12GB RAM
- Cameras: 50MP main camera, 13MP ultrawide lens, 32MP front camera
- Battery: 5000 mAh, 68W fast-charging, 15W wireless charging
- Software: Android 13, exclusive Motorola & Lenovo apps
- Other: IP68 rating, dual stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6E
The phone boasts a considerably-satisfying specs sheet, although there is a particular focus on software services and mobile security. Motorola says that customers will be able to use the ThinkPhone with ThinkShield, a security platform that comes with underlying fundamental security policies, features, specialized hardware, software and processes that ensure the security of the entire device, in addition to Moto Threat Defense. There’s also Moto KeySafe, a separate processor running on Android that adds an additional layer of security to better protect the most sensitive data in the smartphone.
The ThinkPhone is designed to seamlessly work in IT-focused environments, featuring software Moto Secure, an app that serves as a hub for items related to security and privacy, and Moto OEMConfig or Moto Device Manager for IT administrator management.
Another major highlight of the ThinkPhone is natural and full-fledged connectivity with Lenovo ThinkPad devices via “Think 2 Think.” This allows the phone and PC to easily connect over WiFi, effortless transfer or text and recent photos, documents and other media, unified notifications, drag-and-drop file transfer, as well as Android app streaming to PC. You can also use the ThinkPhone’s cameras as a webcam for your PC. Sergio Buniac, Motorola President and Lenovo Senior Vice-President states:
“I’m excited to launch the Lenovo ThinkPhone, a device that truly embodies the trusted quality and purposeful design of the ThinkPad while also bringing unique productivity tools, and industry-leading security and device management capabilities. With its premium specs and seamless integration with the ThinkPad, the ThinkPhone will maximise the experience for business customers for years to come.”
Motorola has worked with Microsoft to bring productivity apps like Microsoft 365, Outlook, and Teams on the ThinkPhone. Push-to-talk capabilities will also be made possible, so users can easily access the Walkie Talkie app for use with Microsoft Teams. Both companies are working together to make it easier for employees to be more productive from anywhere by streaming Windows desktops directly to ThinkPhone devices.
As for availability, the Lenovo ThinkPhone will be available in the US, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Australia and select Asian markets in the coming months. More details regarding pricing will be revealed later on.
