What's This?

In terms of tech leaks, Google’s Pixel products are some of the most sought-after devices, with a healthy dose of photos and hardware details floating around the far reaches of the internet. Every time a new Pixel is announced, we can expect several details to be revealed right up to the last second before its launch – and the Pixel Fold is no exception.

With that being said, a new set of photos from online leaker Evan Blass finally gives us an idea of the Pixel foldable’s design. Blass tweeted out a handful of images showing the device’s external design, and even a look at its interface.

As far as design goes, the Pixel Fold shares its looks with several other foldables such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, as well as other devices from Oppo, Honor, and Vivo, for example. One notable design aspect is the large external display, which goes for a wider aspect ratio that houses a hole-punch camera on its display.

The rear panel meanwhile features the foldable’s main camera set-up, which comes housed in a bar similar to what we saw on the Pixel 7 series, especially with the metal design accents that surround the small glass panels covering the camera lenses. It makes for a consistent look across Google’s current wave of devices, which is a much welcome aesthetic element. It’s speculated that the device will come with a 48MP main camera, alongside 10MP ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, with a 9.5MP resolution on the front camera.

As with the outer panels, the Pixel Fold resembles other foldable devices when opened, with a wide inner display. One design trait in particular however are the uneven bezels on the sides in comparison to the top and bottom, which are obviously thicker. The top bezel houses a secondary front-facing camera (which supposedly has an 8MP resolution), while the right-hand side of the device comes with a similar button set-up to the “standard” Pixel devices, with a power button placed above a volume rocker.

As for software, the device will of course come with Android running Google’s Material UI, the company’s specialized digital design language that first made its debut on the Pixel 6 series. It’s also very likely that we’ll finally see additional updates to Android 13 launch alongside the Fold, with Android 14 still in its Beta phases.

In terms of specifications, it’s rumored that the Pixel foldable might ship with Google’s Tensor G2 processor, the same chip found in the Pixel 7 series devices. This will supposedly be backed by up to 512GB of internal storage, 12GB of RAM, and will be powered by a 4,821 mAh battery. It’s expected that the device will make its debut alongside the Pixel 7a during Google’s I/O conference, which is scheduled to go live on May 10.
