The Nexus 7 is more than a year old now and we were hoping for a refresh at Google I/O, but that never happened. Google may not be done with the Nexus line though, with an anonymous Asus rep detailing specs on live chat.
This rumour is filled with questions, like who the rep is and if this is just a bunch of fake nonsense. However, we hope these rumours are true, because they sound like a pretty impressive next tablet from Google and Asus.
It all starts with the seven-inch LED screen, at a peak 1980 x 1200 resolution. This is very impressive and we are starting to see this on new Windows 8 Haswell tablets and laptops.
Inside sits the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and 2GB of RAM, with 32GB of internal storage, a generous amount from a Nexus device. We expect there will be 8GB and 16GB options, to keep the price down.
The Nexus 7 will come with a huge 4000mAh battery, this is one part of the leak we really question, with 3300mAh being the max we have seen on most normal tablets and phones.
Cameras on tablets have never been a big interest, but the Nexus 7 will come with a 5MP rear and 1.2MP front camera. It will come with Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and WiFi a/b/g/n, but no ac sadly.
LTE will also be available as an option, so now we have at least six different Nexus 7’s coming, with three different storage options (we believe) and an LTE or no-LTE version.
To top off the questions, Android 4.3 will apparently come on the Nexus 7. This really makes us question the rumours, for one, we don’t know if Android 4.3 or Key Lime Pie is coming and we still have no release date for either.
