Microsoft’s $7.71 billion purchase of Nokia’s Devices Division may have just happened earlier this week, but we already have news of a possible date for the newest smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 1520.
According to evleaks, who has already leaked the smartphone render and some specs information, the Nokia Lumia 1520 will launch on September 28, in two weeks. Nokia is planning an event on the same day and this is set to be the launch of their new Windows 8/RT tablet line.
The Nokia Lumia 1520, codenamed Bandit and at AT&T as Beastie, will have a 6-inch phablet screen with a 1080p display, the first on Windows Phone. It is also expected to come with the quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, both available with the GDR3 update.
Nokia will add 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card and a 20MP rear camera, allowing photos to be taken in 16MP and 5MP over-sampled shots. We can see the typical Carl Zeiss lens and PureView technology being added to the larger smartphone.
This is basically the phone rapped up, as so many high-end smartphones nowadays. We have the images, the information and now we have a release date, all we are missing is the price.
In our view, the Nokia Lumia 1520 will start at $299 at AT&T on contract and in the UK it should come between £549 and £659, the normal price for a high-end smartphone off-contract.
